Matt Hamilton - #12

This week, musician/surfer Matt “Hammy” Hamilton stopped by the studio — guitar in hand! We dive into his early years, growing up in a globe-trotting family of five, and how his mom’s love for the ocean brought them to San Clemente. He shares how music and art became passions early on, and how surfing shaped his friendships. From jamming with his first band, Seal Rock, with good friends Hans Sylstra, Gavin Day and Derek Harris, to touring the world with Donavon Frankenreiter’s band Sunchild, to his current band "Trolsen County Brothers" — Hammy’s journey is full of colorful stories, wild surf trips, and sonic adventures.  Best part? About 2/3 into the show, he treats us to a couple of live songs — total MTV Unplugged vibes. We wrap with some insight into his musical influences, the stories behind the songs, and life now in sunny San Clemente with his amazing wife and beautiful daughter.
